What happens if coaches are not identified?
Players will only be placed on teams when coaches have been identified.
How will players be placed on teams?
No decisions have been made on how players will be moved to teams.
What nights will practices and games be on?
The following answers are for baseball:
Rally Caps - (U7) The U7 program is designed for early skill development and fun. The season typically goes for 6 or 7 weeks starting the 1st or 2nd week of May depending on the weather. The first 3 weeks are spent focusing on skills and gradually progressing into mini games. As this is an in-house program, the day/time can be flexible to accommodate the coach and leaders and as many participants as possible. The U7 program goes Thursdays at 5:30 pm to 6:30pm.
Grand Slam (U9) - The Carillon Baseball Association is encouraging house leagues for 9U baseball. This means that the league will not arrange games between teams from different communities. The teams in Niverville will compete against each other or the team coach can contact other communities and arrange for exhibition games. There is no limit to the number of games the coach can arrange. As there are no formal league games, there will be flexibility for the teams to choose practice and game days that work for their team.
U11 - Carillon Baseball League has set game days to be either Monday or Tuesday.
U13 - Carillon has scheduled 13U games to be either Wednesday or Thursday.
U15 - Carillon Baseball League has scheduled 15U games on Mondays with possible Saturday double headers.
U18 - Please note, the U18 season will start in June and will go to mid/late July. The reason for this is to allow for the completion of the High School season before starting the community season. Carillon has scheduled U18 games to be on Thursdays.
Please note, game days will be once per week, with the possibility of twice per week if make up games are required. Game days stated are based on what Carillon has done in the past and may change.
What equipment does my child need to play baseball/softball?
Equipment required:
For All Ages: Baseball glove, helmet, proper footwear, baseball pants (grey)
Ages 13U and up: Protective Cup or Jill
Ages 18U: Wood bat.
Ages 11U and up : Wildcat hat
What is a jersey bond?
A "jersey bond" is a separate charge of $40.00 which is collected for players ages 11U and older. This cheque will be cashed only if uniforms are not returned by July 25tht. Once teams have been assigned, a date will be chosen for pickup of the jerseys.
When I register the fees are "higher" than those shown on the website
The Ramp registrations system allows for the elimination of "jersey bond cheques" and "volunteer buyout cheques". The fees shown includes the registration fee that will be charged initially at registration plus a $45 volunteer buyout fee which will be charged August 1st if you do not meet your 3 hour volunteer commitment. If you volunteer the 3 hours, it will be removed. If you do not return your jersey by July 25th, the credit card will be charged the $40 "jersey bond" on August 5th. If the jersey has been returned, the jersey bond will be removed.
My child is a strong baseball player; can I age advance my child?
Age advancement is typically not a common practice, although exceptions may be made under special circumstances. Our priority is to create a positive experience for all players within their respective age groups, irrespective of skill level. We strive to maintain fairness and inclusivity throughout the program.
Why is my child placed on a waiting list?
We initially used the waiting list in 2023. We are not using the waiting list initially in 2024, but your child may be placed on a waiting list if the number of players exceed the limits for the number of coaches who have volunteered.
